Ditch Diet Culture & Gain Wellness

I am so excited to announce the launch of my new weekly newsletter, ‘Ditch the Diet & Gain Wellness’!

I feel more passionate than ever on encouraging women to love themselves towards healthy, and a newsletter felt like the best way to educate and keep in touch with those who are looking to ditch diet culture. Every other week, I will share tips and insight on topics such as how to ditch diet culture, intuitive eating, Health-At-Every-Size, and general positivity around supporting women of all shapes, sizes, and colors.

I am a recovering chronic dieter and disordered eater.

My own journey to actual wellness and Intuitive Eating began when I realized that I was a chronic dieter with a LOT of disordered eating behaviors. I had allowed intermittent fasting, carb cycling and macro tracking via MyFitnessPal to overtake my life. Like most diets, it worked at first. But like most diets, it stopped working and that turned into me feeling like a failure. As a Certified Health Coach specializing in behavioral change, I knew that my emotions weren’t my fault—but that knowledge didn’t stop me from having the guilt and shame associated with my “failure” to stay on plan.

Then I finally woke up and realized it was the fault of diet culture.

A combination of events led me to recognize that I had to recover and heal from my own disordered eating. For awhile I worked on myself while continuing to coach FASTer Way. I felt like such a walking contradiction though, and I knew I couldn’t promote that program without compromising my integrity and new beliefs. Plus, my own recovery required me to ditch diet culture and I couldn’t do that if I stayed involved and promoted diet culture. So I basically burned down my business.

When you know better, you do better.

In February, I re-named my company Love Yourself Towards Healthy. It had been my “tagline” and mission since 2013, but I wanted it to be at the forefront of everything I do. In May, I began to only accept 1:1 clients that were ready to ditch diet culture and work towards Intuitive Eating. And in early June, I launched my first anti-diet program, Gain Wellness, a 5-week group session for women that I will run monthly.

Since converting over my business, I have never felt so passionate and aligned with my purpose. That’s why now felt like the perfect time to launch a newsletter to help women unlearn diet culture so they can tap into their own intuition.
